Really great article. I worked with a half dozen or so Trans people at Amazon. They were all great to work with and no one really cared about their gender. The people who made jokes were generally aholes, who no one wanted to team up with.
I also don't totally understand being trans, but having had a 'Sharon' mid transition in my back-office role of a megabank, I can tell you her singing to herself was just as annoying regardless of how she choose to identify...
But like you say, that's just normal workplace stuff, and she was damned good at attention to detail.
I appreciate the divergence from the normal content, and explicitly calling out /linking it to the broader world & whats being carried out right now by some fringe folks seeking to take us in a darker direction.
I'm fine with whatever an adult chooses to do to themselves as long as it does not affect children. Crotch-thrusting trans people around children is not okay in any setting.
Reminds me of the seat belt or motorcycle laws: I don't care if you do or if you don't, but I don't want to pay more for my insurance because of your choices. Also, is it all about the sex act? If not what are the other benefits for transferring to the standards of the other sex? I think the most easy life without considering much else is ranked: 1) good looking woman; 2) good looking man; 3) homely looking man; 4) homely looking woman.
